Bauba's Birthday

This awesome whimsical birthday cake was covered in colored buttercream with fondant accents.  The silver stars on top were hanging from silver wire and were dangling over the side of the cake.  It isn't overly apparent from the picture but it was frosted so the layers were larger at the bottom and frosted at an angle.

The cupcakes went along with this cake and were in the shape of a star.  The too were frosted with buttercream and have fondant accents.

Gerbera Daisy Cupcakes

These were for the Bridal Shower for Lindsy (see Lindsy's Wedding Cake).  Her wedding was bubblegum pink and white with Gerbera Daisies, so it seemed only fitting to do multiple types of pink fondant Gerbera Daisies to go on top of her cupcakes.

The Princess and the Frog

This was such a fun cake to do! It was based on the Disney Movie, The Princess and the Frog.  The frogs, and crown are all made out of gum paste.

Melanie Baptism

This cake was a challenge because they wanted a cross cake that serves 50-60.  Due to the shape of the cake, there was no way to make it that large without it looking distorted and semi "coffin" like.  The solution was to make a smaller cake and serve matching cupcakes with it.  Overall, this cake was about the size overall of a 1/4 sheet cake, and served approximately 30 people.  It was covered with buttercream and fondant pink and white daisies.

A Day to Hit the Green

This mini 6 inch cake was covered in green buttercream with green fondant for the "green", blue buttercream for the pond, and vanilla wafer crispies for the sand trap.

Pina Colada Cupcakes

This was another cocktail inspired cupcake.  It was a coconut pineapple rum cake topped with rum buttercream frosting and toasted coconut.  It was a little taste of the tropics for dessert.

Pain Killer Cupcakes

This cocktail inspired cupcake was an inspiration after my recent trip to the US Virgin Islands and the British Islands.

The Painkiller Cocktail Inspirational Drink Recipe
3 parts pineapple juice
2 parts cream of coconut
2 parts rum
1 part orange juice
Shaken and served with fresh grated nutmeg on top

This was a coconut cupcake with a pineapple orange filling topped with rum frosting and sprinkled with grated nutmeg.

Another Adorable Polka-Dot Cake

Although this cake looks almost identical to the "Polka Dotted Baby Shower" Cake it is very different.  The sheer pink ribbon on top had a shiny boarder on it and the entire cake was covered with Pixie Dust (edible sparkles).  It is also three layers of vanilla cake with a Nutella buttercream filling.  The writing on the cake was placed on a piece of fondant made to look like a gift tag.  It was also covered in silver edible sparkles so that it stood out from the rest of the cake.  It was perfect for the mom-to-be because not only did she LOVE nutella, but many of the baby things she has is polka dotted.

S, Simple but Elegant and Fun

These S sugar cookies were covered in a rich red fondant with a royal icing piped design. Even thought they are simple, once they were put in individual bags with bows they became super fun.

USC

These red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing were so cool. They were perfect for the graduation party they were served at!

Ladybugs and Bumblebees

The theme of this party was obviously ladybugs and bumblebees.  They were so cute when they were on display because the cupcakes were set next to the cookies.

These were sugar cookies covered in fondant with royal icing decorations.

Both of these cupcakes were vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.  The bugs were made out of royal icing.

Mini Dessert Cups

These are little 2 oz wine glasses filled with the makings of a lemon meringue pie, vanilla wafer crust, lemon curd and topped with a toasted meringue.

These small 3 oz glasses have my cheesecake mouse with strawberries.  It is strawberry season so they were so delicious!

A Fall Wedding

I had the opportunity while I was in school to make a wedding cake for my aunt. This cake was covered in buttercream with ribbon and roses. It was perfect for a fall wedding.

Irish Car-Bomb Cupcakes

I decided to experiment one day and make something that sort of resembled an Irish Car Bomb in the form of dessert. The cake portion is a chocolate Guinness Stout cake with an Irish Cream buttercream icing.  They were perfect for St. Patrick's Day.

Box Cake

Someone requested a cake that looked like a gift box.  It turned out really cute, especially because the ribbon on the actual gift matched the ribbon on the cake.

Mini Apple Pies

These mini apple pies were made in ceramic cups, making it possible to warm them before serving them.  I thought it would be fun to make a couple different types so I made traditional apple pie, and French apple pie with the crumb topping.

Rainbow Cupcakes

I thought these were just extremely fun! They were so bright and happy that it wasn't possible to smile when one looked at them.  These are vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting but it would be possible to do any cake flavor as long as it is white to start with.  I colored the frosting and layered it in the containers before I baked them and after this experiment I figured out how to layer it so that they show all the colors on the outside.

Red Rose Anniversary Cake

This was for a Anniversary.  I used real roses to decorate the cake.  It was chocolate cake with fresh strawberries and cream cheese filling with cream cheese icing.  So simple yet so elegant.

Buzz Lightyear Birthday

The mother wanted to include a Buzz Lightyear inspired rocket ship in each of the guests goodie bags so these were the cookies I created.  They were so cute when they were individually wrapped with little blue ribbons.

This was the extremely fun birthday cake that I created for the birthday boy

All three tiers were chocolate cake with a custard filling and different color buttercream icing.  The top tier had clouds piped on with a white dot boarder along the base.  The middle tier had blue buttercream icing with yellow fondant stars. The bottom tier was covered in light brown buttercream and had graham cracker sand covering the top.  The "wood" around the base was made out of brown fondant that was marbled and indented to make it look more realistic.  The happy birthday was also made out of fondant with piped royal icing for the letters.
Here are some up-close photos.

Fresh Strawberry Fruit Tarts

This is the perfect cold spring time dessert using fresh seasonal fruit.

I made the tart shells, and then coated them in sanding sugar.  They are filled with pastry cream, topped with fresh strawberries and glazed with apricot glaze.  There is a dollop of whip cream and a few chocolate curls on top.
